THE CHLORINES WITH OWEN DE MARCHI

How did the members of The Chlorines align themselves?
Brayden, Tom and I played in another band, Rich Widow, together for years so to get those guys on board was natural. Freeman hit me up for some gigs. I didn't have any but instead offered him a spot on the drums, which he so kindly accepted. As for Rene, I really can't remember, I think he just came to a jam and blew us all away.
Who are the bands you all listen to or draw inspiration from?
I can't speak for the other guys but I really like music with a lot of presence and honesty. Particular bands or genres aren't so important. Whether it's light and airy or dark and dramatic, acoustic or electronic. Anything can hit that spot that inspires you, you know?
Where did The Black Bone Gang go?
I have no idea. Those guys are a bunch of pricks anyway, good riddance!
Who's got it in the bag for this year's Big Splash?
I thought we had it in the bag but we didn't even make the cut, haha. Up the Porn Crumpets I reckon!
I've seen you smoke ciggies during your set a couple times, ever get smoke in your eye and do the face-scrunch but like half looking like you weren't doing that?
Smoking ciggies while you're playing is hard, There's an art to it that I'm yet to master. My face is scrunched up like I just sucked on a lemon for our whole set anyway so I guess everyone would be none the wiser.
House party or venue gig?
House party so I can practice smoking cigs.
Which bands in Perth are doin' it good at the moment?
There's so many bands around at the moment. We played with The Darling Rangers the other night. they are insane, I would definitely recommend checking them out. Also Dougal's Casino are another cracking band. The Wheelers of Oz always put on an epic show plus I heard that they have done some recording too which I'm excited to hear.
Are there any upcoming releases for The Chlorines?
We just finished recording a double single so that should be out soon then going back to start on our debut LP in the very near future.
